This is part of 4 stamps @ 32 cents "Pioneers of Communication" issued by
the USPS on February 22nd, 1996. The other three stamps show Frederic
E. Ives (is this the guy with Ives' Kromoskop?), Ottmar Mergenthaler
(Linotype) and William Dickson (Motion Pictures).

There was a 15 cent stamp showing Oliver Wendell Holmes. But I don't know
when it was issued. But maybe someone in the U.S. still knows when you
could send a letter or postcard for 15 cents?
