This week I was in Dallas at the Cellular Telephone Industry Association
(CTIA) convention. There were two 3D programs in use at booths. EDS had what
appeared to be a normally projected 3D movie of a bike race, taken from the
vantage of the racer. I didn't witness with glasses - just saw from afar.
Lucent Technologies (Bell Laboratories) Had a 3D video that was rear screen
projection utilizing the usual paper polorized glasses. I'm not sure how
thay polarized the image. The video consisted of two parts. Scenes involving
real people had little depth. However, computer generated scenes of
navigating a maze had significant depth - looking much like a virtual
reality game. Unfortunately, the view was as if from a walking child's eyes
- made me seasick.
