Any of the 3-D animation systems I have worked with, such as Wavefront or
Soft Image, allow the designer to move the object(s), move the lights,
move the camera, or any combination of the above.
So, now we get back to the original question... which was if one were to
find an animated "shot" in which the camera dollied or tracked but the
characters remained stationary, could they be successfully paired for
stereo? I can recall from memory seeing animated scenes from Pixar,
Sogitek, and others animating a traveling camera around a stationary
object. I'll have to be on the lookout as I get reels in from these
houses...
