My most gifted Graduate Students in the field of Photogrammetry have been
women.  My first protege' to become a Certified Photogrammetrist is a woman.
Most of my male Research Assistants have been more interested in Geodesy.
I have noticed that when I get student workers in my lab that are doing
topographic mapping from aerial photos (3D), the most dedicated, the most
interested, the most whatever tend to be the young ladies...

I don't know why, it's just been that way for me for over 15 years at UNO.
