I used to do (in a life many light years away) several conventions/shows a
year in places like the Waldorf Astoria in NYC and the LA Hiltion in Lala
Land, plus in between. They always charged you for each and every individual
little thing you used. The really big irritant was the labor unions that
forced a "worker" on you for 4 hours min. at an outrageous $$/hr whether or
not you wanted one. Maybe the best place was the Las Vegas Hilton where they
charged one big fee up front. At least in NYC you could get 120 V *DC* if
you wanted it!
I'm sorry George. It's just part of the crap you have to put up with at
convention hotels.
