OK, I know, I know, I got carried away, in my last posting. There were
indeed some kids, mostly pre-teens, who queued up, at the PX display to peer
at Super Mario playing tennis, in glorious red LED's on a black background.
And I guess, in a few years, the Virtual Boy, selling -at that time for 99
bucks- may be worth as much as a proof sheet of Marilyn M. or an envelope
with a sketch of Tricky Dick behind mock bars. On the other hand, there are
folks like my friend Bruce Hansen here in Hawaii ( I call his passion a rare
form of Hansen's disease) who shoot Realist format stereo, twin camera
stereo, slide bar stereo; I mean actually< shoot pitchers> Well, I have a
pang or two or guilt to confide:
I so love trhe ease of my Canons and point- and shoot- that it is truly a
pain in the okole to recalibrate my brain to do stereo. Now, what has this
to do with the Wow Factor. The Wow factor is what gets people who look at
my slides to appreciate why I shoot stereo. The Wow factor sold some
Virtual Boys and will no doubt add The VB to the pile of' almost-made- a
contendah' gear, including the Toshiba camcorder, and the now you see it now
you don't Eukranian Fed camera. What keeps me going is something beyond the
Wow factor. Maybe others can define it better. I can't for now. I just
love this crazy hobby. Gerry
