I've sitting on the sidelines and reading the comments, and I must say I
agree with Dr. T....the RBT and the Realist are not comparable. I have been
shooting with Realist Customs for a few years now.....and recently I got an
RBT X2-A which is the twin Ricoh with Tokina 28-70mm macro zooms spaced at
65mm.

I must say that it is nice to have the automation and focal flexibility of
the RBT X2....for catching a sports event....one where you are not to near
the players....and you want to zoom in and catch something moving...The RBT,
shoots up to 1/2000th of a second (good luck with Kodachrome 64 or Velvia 50
however!!)

The one thing that the RBT X2 confirmed for me, and it is a nice camera,
takes a crisp picture (no the human takes the picture....right).....and
provides a 24mm x 33mm image to start with befroe you mask down: it
confirmed for me that the Realist camera, and the square 5 perf format is
really valuable to me......so easy to use, great for framing objects up
close, the cameras are easy to carry (for that, the Wollensak, Revere, Kodak
and others fit the bill as well)....and the Realist's fixed optics create a
really sharp image (as for theoptical quality of the others, as Eric
Goldstein says...."argue amongst yourselves and let the flames begin!!"")
Of course....the image is only as good as the camera operators provison for
setting up the shot. BOTTOM LINE FOR ME IS THAT ALTHOUGH THE RBT WILL BE MY
MAIN CAMERA FOR THE TIME BEING, MY REALISTS WONT BE COLLECTING ANY DUST, THEY
WILL BE WITH ME WHEREVER I GO....anyone got a spare crane for my camera
bag....how about a ultralightweight titanium Realist Custom 2.8 for $50,000,
then the RBT would be quite reasonable! REGAR-D-D-D-S JON GOLDEN RBT USA
