Possible heat damage to Kodachrome

I have some (scarce) View-Master reels that have the emulsion on the
Kodachrome sort of flaking off, or starting to. I don't know how the
condition was created, but there are lots of bubbles in the cardstock, if
that gives any clues. Excessive heat has been suggested as a possible
culprit. The images have a rather dull appearance, even when not flaking.

The question is: does anyone on the list know of any chemical process that
might re-fix the emulsion to the film? This is not a big deal, by any
means, but these reels are scarce enough that I am sure I'll never buy
better copies of them, and if I can make them last better, I certainly will.

If you do know of something, I appreciate the help, and it might be of
general interest to others on the list.

Also, a few days ago, someone asked about View-Master mounting services - I
don't know of any, but I finally bought a cutter (Thanks, Harry Poster) and
would be willing to do this for others on an _occasional_ basis. It would
have to cost me no out-of-pocket money, and I would want something in
return, such as a few blank reels or a collectible reel or two. Those
cutters are not very easy to find, and I am sympathetic with anyone who has
a camera but no cutter.

Thanks,

Jim
