In addition to George's points, I would add that in my experience,
slides give more sharness and better color saturation than prints.  At
least, that's true when they're directly viewed, as opposed to
projected.  I don't know if that's born out by scientific data, but
it's certainly my impression.

This is an important point.  I've considered using a twin rig, making
prints, and putting them in a two print per page (over under) photo
album.  Then my friends and relatives can enjoy them as "flatties,"
and I can whip out the View-Magic and enjoy the added depth.
