New 3D Videotape
It might come as a surprise to those of use who have been viewing and shooting
3D video for the past several years, but a company in Seattle has just announced
that they are releasing the "very first 3D video" in history. It's an
alternate-field video called "Escape," and other than a couple of off-handed
references to skiing the Swiss Alps and seeing Paris from the top of the Eiffel
Tower, there is no real description of contents or length. Half of their
brochure does, however, detail the tremendous value of the tape for dentists,
apparently to mesmerize jittery patients. Being standard AF, the tape is
advertised as compatible with "all 3D viewing systems" such as Virtual-iO
glasses, 3DTV rigs, Stereographics Simuleyes, etc. (Since this is absolutely the
first 3D tape ever produced, howcum there's so many viewing systems?) It's
$39.95 (+$5ph) from Virtual Video, P.O. Box 23136, Seattle, WA 98102, FAX (206)
