DIY Holograms

There is a six page theory and practice article on DIY holograms in the 
Maplin Electronics magazine (UK), June 1996 issue. Worth a look if 
you're interested in experimenting. The author does away with the 
customary optical bench, substituting a kitchen worktop suspended on 
two car inner tubes. Hmmm...  :-)
