Photo Swap

I've been on the list a while now and have yet to see anything like what I
am about to suggest. I assume it is done somewhat among friends, but there
are a lot of "isolated" 3d'ers out there.

Have you ever seen someone else's photographs and thought "that's great, I
wish I could have a copy"? Or is there some place or event that you have
always wanted a photo of but will probably never get a chance to see or attend?

How about offering to "swap photos" with someone. You know, tell me what you
would like me to photograph for you and I'll tell you what I would like you
to photograph for me. It could be a straight photo for photo or dozen photos
for dozen photos swap.

People could post places, subjects, or specialties they could photograph and
what they would like photos of on a web page or ftp site. You could also add
facts such as type of camera, film, and mounts used; whether you want/take
slides, print pairs, lenticulars, etc. Maybe even a purely subjective,
personal rating of your photographing and mounting ability. You know - I'm a
newbie, I've won numerous awards, etc.

What prompted me to bring this up was I received some slides from Shilo
Teshima in Japan. These were slides of Japanese Temples and other subjects
that I will probably never be able to take myself. I asked him what subjects
he liked and went out and photograhed them and sent them off to him. He will
most likely never get to photograph an old Idaho mining town with 1920's
vintage cars or the Old Idaho State Penitentiary or me at work on my
microscope *{;-)

In addition to getting great photographs you get a chance to "meet" and get
to know other 3d-ers better.

I'm not one who could set up a web page, but I would be willing to help in
any way I could.

What does everyone think?
