3-d of theatrical performances

Peter Davis, in his usual dictatorial style ;) ;) ;), writes:

IMO, one of the toughest subject to photograph in 3-d due to:

1. Low lighting
2. Distance from the action
3. Restrictions in flash or photography in general.

Any ideas on how to overcome these obstacles? 
(other than hidding a twin SLR rig loaded with 6400 ASA film under 
one's coat ;))
