Stereomatic cord and stopping dust!

Thanks to everyone who sent in suggestions for replacing the cord on my
Stereomatic. The first letter I read was Dave Huddle's, who said that he
used the cord from a Kirby vacuum cleaner. Within the hour I had tracked
down one at a local repair shop. Not only does it fit perfectly, it is
also around 30ft long and matches the brown paint on the projector's
base...who could ask for more?
I would also like to share some personal experience trying to reduce
dust on negatives and slides. The best thing I have EVER used to (almost)
obliterate dust is also a very expensive route, but well worth it if you
can spare the cash. It is an electronic static brush. The one I used is
made by Zone VI in Vermont (1-802-257-5161) and costs $299US. For a
duration after brushing a negative or slide, dust will actually be
repelled. The problem with using a normal camel-hair brush (or any brush
for that matter) is that a static charge will form and dust will becomes an
even greater problem.
:-)jamie.
