Stereo ? VCR

I just saw a picture and short description of a VCR in VIDEO
magazine that repeats an idea that I posted in this list
some time back. The VCR is made by Sharp and can record two
programs at the same time and can play them back side by
side on a TV. I had hoped for a camcorder that could do
this along with a headset that would make taking and viewing
3D videos available to those of us who never got to try the
Toshiba camcorder. The alternated frames and shuttered
glasses always seemed to me to be too complicated and
probably unviewable without glasses. Recording two
separate video streams allows viewing one signal in 2D
or both signals with a headset, side by side/over and under
viewing on a single screen with appropriate viewer or even
viewing with a 2 screen setup for maximum resolution. Once
recorded in this format the program could even be converted
to alternate field/shuttered glasses format. Sharp has
apparently put the technology into a VCR, all they have to
do now is make a camcorder with two lenses and two CCD's and
I will be ready to buy.

One question: If you record two VHS quality images and play
them back on two monitors and fuse them for a stereo image,
wouldn't the resulting APPARENT resolution be BETTER than
VHS quality? I seem to remember a discussion of the
seemingly higher resolution of Realist size stereo pairs as
compared to full frame non-stereo slides.
