This is interesting because I have what must be *exactly* the same
view based on the description, but mine is "London Bridge, London,
England" Copyright 1896 by Strohmeyer & Wyman. I guess the copyright
laws were interpreted a little more loosely in those days (:-).

As far as I know, the earliest recorded publication of the London
Bridge rhyme was around 1743 and the actual rhyme probably predates
that by a way. There have been a number of "London Bridges"
over the years, though .... the earlier ones being wooden and having
houses on them (plus the heads of the recently beheaded) so I wouldn't
doubt that the the rhyme originated at the time of the dismantling (or
collapse) of one of the those bridges.

In fact, if memory serves, one of the earlier (wooden) bridges was
destroyed by fire so it might have been that which sparked off (ouch!)
the nursery rhyme.
