Re Teco-Nimslo
Jamie Drouin asked about some first hand experience using the Teco-Nimslo
for close ups I did think to reply to him direct but perhaps this may be
of interest to other members . Presumably he is also intending to use the
Teco six inch and 12 inch lenses the 12 inch is mounted so as to use the
36mm seperation pairs . You have to rotate the holder 180 degrees between
exposures to avoid double exposure which I find awkward and besides 36mm is
3.6 X the 1/30 rule so I prefer to use this lens in the same mount as the
six inch lens . This uses a 18mm pair so is only 1.8 X the 1/30 rule for
the 12 inch and about 3 x for the six inch although I find this is not very
noticeable. The mount is intended to be used with the central pair but I
prefer to use with the end pair imediately under the viewfinder to reduce
horizontal parralax difference. I had to add an extra piece to the mount to
cover the opposite unused lens. With the six inch lens which is measured
from the film plane I actualy insert a clear plastic six inch ruler under
the camera between the camera and case and leave it in place to measure the
distance. This is visible in the end product but I slice it off on prints
and mount slides " upside down" in Oemichen Nimslo mounts so that the area
intended to cover the thicker black border and red spot on Nimslo slides
covers this up instead . If there is a red spot on the slide it can be
covered with black felt tip or better still black it out in the camera. I
do find the set up gives better results with slides than with prints but I
have just had some prints back that I am quite pleased with . P.J.Homer
