Re: Film Rating

Living in the S.F. bay area, I find that processing for some ASA value
other than the rated one can be very usefull. Our summers tend to be
foggy, and our winters bright and clear with a low key (sun). A half
stop or two will dramatically alter a films gamma (I think it's called
C.I. these days?). A little under development and the harsh light of
winter is made to expose a much broader range of color and scale. A
little over and some "snap" can be put back into those grey days.

At Brooks we only shot 4X5, so processing was done on a shot by shot
basis. But, I think the results are worth the effort even when shooting
roll film, if any ambient conditions remain the same for a given roll.
The rule at school was "Expose for the light, develop for the shadow".
