Adventures in 3D slide duping

After searching through the archives and not finding much detail on
Realist slide duplicating, I bit the bullet and tried experimenting. I
used a Minolta x-370 35mm slr with a borrowed macro lense. the macro
coupled with it's own extension tube gave a 1:1 ratio. I took a long
piece of scrap wood and bolted the camera to one end. Using my huge Lego
collection, I built a small slide holder which attaches to the wood and
slides up and down its length. To the back of the slide holder, I stuck
a piece of white translucent plastic diffuser. Thus, I had a slide
holder which was back lit with sunlight. I took the whole unit outside
and using Fuji Sensia 100, I duped my Pete Townshend slides and a few
self portraits. I used a black tee-shirt draped over the unit to dampen
any reflections. Overall, the rigged unit worked very well. The
Townshend slides look better duped in my opinion. The contrasty film
darkened the grainy underexposed background and helped Pete jump out.
The outdoor self portrait dupes were contrasty, but not too much to send
to a relative. For concert dupes, I whole heartedly recommend the Fuji
100 daylight film. I think I pretty much built one of the Cambron $59
slide duplicators. If anyone has one of those, is it easy to use with a
standard Realist mount? I'll probably buy one as I have to give the
Macro lense back. Oh well, we'll see how the Ramone's concert this week
and the Prince's Trust Who/Cream/Dylan show turns out. Maybe I'll have
some good slide's for next years expo.
