I think it must be at least partly manual because I've heard there are
secret names you can mark your package attention of and get a better
result. Also, if you envision what they must do to be cost effective
and yet get acceptable results, I think the machine must be guided by
a human.
I think the results you get when you send your film in to be mounted are
acceptable if you're not too critical and you only view them in a hand
viewer.
