In general I am willing to accept commercial mounting because frankly,
hand-mounting is a pain in the neck and other bodily parts. Also, I'm not doing
any shooting for competition purposes. But of course it is important to
recognize what can be done by custom mounting, and how borderline pictures can
sometimes be saved by careful mounting. It's a good skill to hone, even if you
are normally satisfied with the commercial "standard."
