If you have the adapter that lets you run your camcorder off the
charger you are half way there. My Canon one looks like a very thin
battery on the camcorder end and has a 1 metre cord that ends in a
coaxial power plug.
Build a box with the matching power jack and you are set.
You could use 5 of the Radio Shack Hi capacity D-cell Nicads
which have 4 Ah capacity. Or get a 6V gel cell of the desired
capacity (though you probably need a special gel cell charger
then).
I would recommend putting a fuse (perhaps 10A) in the battery
box in case the cable or adapter end ever short the battery out.
The fuse will blow preventing a melt down or fire.
