Peter, and anyone else interested in exploring the wacky wonderfull
world of SL3D, please, pretty please, don't use a Q-DOS lens unless you
already have one.

Make your own, it can't help but be far superior to Q-DOS! It's easy to
do. And, I will help you in any way I can.

There are at least two major design flaws in the Q-DOS lens, all of
which compound to diminish the 3-D information, and overall effect.

One is that it has a clear strip between the left and right halves of
the aperture. Another is that it employes desaturated separation
filters.

The point of the filters, of course, is to keep the L/R perspectives
separate. To reduce their effectivness, and/or to limit their effective
area, simply reduces the 3-D effect.

I don't mind that the mechanism of SL3D was clearly misunderstood by the
Q-DOS people. I am irritated that they would intentionally try to
rip-off any would be 3-Ders (intentionally since they had Jimmy Songers
patent to work from!). But, I am really ticked at them for proliferating
such a rude example of single lens 3-D.
