Re: PHOTO-3D digest 1359

RE: Guide Number.. Bob Wier and Greg!

First.."Blue Dots for Sure Shots!" Bob is going to tell you is the
slogan of Sylvania..but it isn't (or wasn't 'til later!) It was the
slogan of Wabash Lamp Co. who made the first flashbulbs in the USA
perhaps licensing Osram patents. Sylvania bought Wabash..and NOW it is
full circle when I got a letter from OSRAM-Sylvania Winchester KY when I
returned a halogen bulb that didn't last over 300 hours when it was
supposed to give 3000. (a fancy household lamp with thick bulb and
internal transformer and small lamp.) And my alma mater Westinghouse
Lamp is now in the clutches of NORELCO, Horth American Philips. So the
Americans have sold out for pieces of silver.
For Greg..a guide number computed from notes and tests does not have the
inaccuracy of the strobe lights computed in a white bathroom!! (My most
choice moment was finding GE had copied an error I made on a
Westinghouse guide number chart!!! We fixed ours!) One error I didn't
make but received the evidence, was when a guy sent in a wrapper from a
number !! photoflash lamp and asked "What's a BLUB"? Our wrapper clearly
said, "No. 11 Photofash Blub"..as did all the no. 11's in the warehouse
and one the rubber matts that printed cartons and on the art works. In a
lamp bulb factory no one ever read past the "b" as "bulb" was everywhere
you looked except on this carton. BobH
