3D CRT. sys

The July 96 edition of Popular Electronics magazine has a rather
good article describing an autostereoscopic CRT system.
This sys was developed by INFINITY Multimedia of Sherman Oaks California
and based on a 1993 patent by Dr. Adrian Travis of Cambridge University.
Most of the system is built from off the shelf components, and uses a
LCD barrier in front of a projection CRT, the only custom designed parts
are the video and LCD signal switching circuit.

The author stated that objects would project a few inches in front
of the screen. And a demo interactive program run on it would allow one
to fly a cross-hair target behind objects on screen.

The first place you might see this sys is when you slip $1.00 in
an arcade flight simulator, I know I'll be there in line with
the rest of you :-)
