Stereo Vivid results, twin Nikons, etc...

Hi all,
Just got my first roll of Ektachrome back today that I shot in the Vivid
last Wednesday. The clarity was remarkable...even under an 8x loupe I
found it just as crisp if not better than the Realist 3.5 I have. Exposure
was good so Greg will be proud that I used an incident meter and the
exposure calculator on the Vivid :-).
One thing that I did notice was a slight amount of frame overlap. Whereas
the Realist frames are snug up against each other the Vivid has a slight
overlap. This didn't affect the finished product as the Albion mounts give
plenty of mounting margin to cover it up. One thing is puzzling is that the
overlap is consistant and appears to be linear. Just for fun I held an
uncut roll from my Realist and the Vivid uncut roll just to see how the
frames lined up. Even though the Vivid frames had a slight overlap they
seemed to be linear and in line with the Realist roll. (Aligning frame 1
right on the mark and looking how frames toward the end of the roll
aligned...right on the money. There was no apparent error build-up. It
almost seems that the Vivid exposes a slightly larger frame. The focus is
dead-on as I tried a couple of shots wide open at 4 feet. Is this
characteristic of the Vivid? As I mentioned earlier I cut each frame right
down the middle of the overlap and it seemed consistant with the cutting jig
too.
Aside from this small problem the Vivid takes great pictures, is easy to use
and very light around the neck. (Unlike shooting my daughter's ballgame a
few weeks ago with a Realist and a Nikon F4 around my neck....oh my back!)
Michael Kaplan: Do you notice this on your Vivid?
Thanks again to all on the input and help on the twin Nikon N2000 rig I'm
putting together. I have the bodies but still looking for MC3, MC4, MC10 or
12. So if you have any kicking around (working or not) I need the
parts...specifically the connectors).
Question for Dr T: George...how fast are you able to sync your twin
Minoltas? Are you using a mechanical or electronic release?
Thanks,
Tim Smith
