Question
I read recently that wood was not considered an archival storage
medium. Does anyone have further info to confirm or dispute this? I
like to store my slides in a Baja case, and am curious whether or not
this might do long term damage. I have reasonable control over
temperature and humidity, but is there anything inherent in wood/wood
glues that is a slide killer?
On another note, I shoot Kodachrome pretty exclusively because I would
like my images to last. Does anyone know of any recent (believable!)
articles that describe the current state of archival qualities of E6
vs. Kodachrome, and their respective expected life ranges? I hear
things are improving, but I would like more info. I know this has
been covered in the past somewhat on this list, but not in any great
detail recently. (or was I asleep at the keyboard?)
Also, has anyone seen a fairly recent film test that shows color
reproduction samples of similar shots in the major available slide
films, E-6 and Kodachrome. I've seen these in the past, but not
recently. I'm really curious about the differences in color rendition
between Kodachrome 25 vs. Kodachrome 64, and differences between the
commonly used low to medium speed E6 films (which I would expect to
have slightly better color).
