Re: Realist Mount Survey

My two cents on Grant's Question:

     >What kind or brand of realist format mount(s) do you use and why?

I use several different mounts - glass/aluminum for projection,
cardboard for give aways with cheapie viewers from Reel 3D, RBT's
because I like the adjustment system, both vertical and horizontal
without having to use tape, which leaves me with concerns about will
the tape slip, or eventually cause damage to the film chips.

But the mounting I use most often is Albion masks with Emde frames.
This combination gives me a clean sharp window, good lateral window
adjustment (not really available if one uses the Emde Masks) and a
small amount of vertical adjustment, even some rotational (when I
haven't paid attention to the bubble level in my Realist :-)). The
storage problem is a nice compromise with these mounts. If the Albion
mask only is used, the slide chips would be in contact in close
packing (plus the channels from one slide always seem to be
interlocking with the adjacent slide). With the Emde frames holding
the masks, there is a slight gap between stacked slides so the chips
don't actually touch, but their "stackability" is still very good.

There are some other nit picking reasons for my choice, but these are
my main reasons for choosing the Albion/Emde combination.
