Thanks for the interesting information. I have just started trying two
camera stereo after an initial period of experimentation with a beam
splitter and also the left-foot right-foot technique. I'm doing prints for
the Viewmagic system at the moment, but I plan to try slides shortly (for
hand held viewing as I've only got one projector). I thought, maybe
incorrectly, that the Viewmagic system might be a little less tolerant of
mounting errors. It's certainly easier for a novice to line up 6x4 prints,
anyway.

I have two 20 year old Olympus 35RC compacts which I've mounted on a wooden
bar. Initially I tried two separate cable releases held in one hand - and
got very bad sync of course. Then I tried a bar across the top, raising and
lowering the pivot point to adjust sync. This worked well, but I found that
the sync needed slight readjustment sfter the assembly had been partially
dismantled to load the film. Now I have two longer cable releases with a
simple wooden jig/grip which looks promising, although I'm not expecting to
freeze fast action with this method.

As I understand it, the lens 120mm separation in my setup will give problems
with close subjects. I'm trying to compensate slightly for this by shifting
the prints laterally during mounting. It's difficult for me to judge how
successful this is as my enthusiasm makes me tolerant of errors. Does any
body know how far I can get away with this? Am I correct in thinking that
mounting errors are more noticeable with projected slides than with
prints/slides in hand viewers?
