pinhole macro stereo ?????

I had a thought after reading the Stereo World article about the
Macro Realist, but I don't have the numbers in front of me to
determine whether it'd work. Assuming you used fairly fast
film, a powerful flash, & a fairly short pinhole/film plane
distance (say, the thickness of a standard SLR body), could you
get away with apertures in the normal pinhole range (with an
object distance of, say, 4-6 inches)? It should be pretty
easy/cheap to whip together a home-made dual pinhole/septum
arrangement for an SLR body...I guess you'd also need to be able
to tilt the flash forward, as on the Macro Realist...

Any ideas, anyone?
