Reproduction of Viewmaster reels

Please bear with me, I'm new to the computer thing, but have been taking
stereo photographs in one format or another for about ten years now.
Although I enjoy using my Realist, for distribution to friends, etc
I have always felt that the Viewmaster format was the simplist. One can
pick up a viewer, new or vintage, most anywhere. The problem of course, is
that unless one takes twenty or thirty of the exact same shot, reels
cannot be made up that are the same.
I've tried using that neg/slide film with the idea of splicing together
a strip of the images I wanted reproduced, and then running off twenty or
so dupes...the film is so wretched that I quickly gave up on that idea.
I have, for the past three years, been using the Russian Sputnik 120
stereo camera, with the idea of somehow finding a way of duping down the
large and amazingly good chromes into Viewmaster format 35mm strip that I
can then cut out with my viewmaster cutter.
There are all kinds of technical problems for building some type of
slide viewer... maybe from a canabalized Viewmaster personal, some kind of
close up lenses, and a light source. The shifting lens thing is kin of tricky
and I would even give up every other frame, although some kind of shift
mechanism might be useful...
Anyway, does anyone know of such a slide duping setup, or have any idea of
how one would go about making one?
Hopefully, Mike Dochterman
