Hi, David, 
I have the same TDC projector with 5" lenses and I had had the same trouble 
before. Because my multi-function room as a study, a living room, a bed 
room, and also a projection room is totally small. :-( 
So when I project slides in my room, I always use a mirror to get more 
distance. You only have to insert slides inside out. You'll feel few loss 
because of the mirror.
At first, the advantage you can get the best seat. :-)
