3D movies
Marvin Jones says:
We're supposed to be 3D-knowledgable here. Let's get it straight--throughout
the
3D fad of approximately 1953-1956 not one single solitary feature film was
EVER
released in anaglyph format!!! To the best of my knowledge, the same can be
said
of the shorts.....
Marvin is almost 100% correct. Only one feature film - EL CORAZON Y LA ESPADA
(MEXICAN) and one short - SIDE STREETS OF HOLLYWOOD was done in the anaglyph
format in the 1950's.
I think the reasons why most of the 3D movies of the 50's through the 80's
were not
successful were:
1 - too few really good movies (ex: Kiss Me Kate, Dial M for Murder, etc.)
2 - Photographers who did not know how to film in 3-D.
2 - Films not projected correctly (poor lighting, screen painted silver,
etc.)
