George writes: "I am seeing a lot of excitement about various forms of
3-d in this list. Every little thing, toy, gadget, gimmick, or
whatever, that has some remote connection to 3-d is being greeted with
cheers. I hope that we can go beyond our 3D-addiction and
differentiate between good, average and fake."

I think you miss-understand some of the "excitement" surrounding every
new thing that is 3D... It isn't necessarily that it's always great
stuff, but that it exists at all.

Kellogg's will never include a viewer and slides in their cereal, nor
will Franco-American in their Spaghettio's. This is a good way for many
people to at least be introduced to the idea of 3D imagery. Once their
interest is peaked, they might be more open to better quality 3D image
formats, i.e.: spending some money.

George, there is nothing wrong with perusing the perfect 3D slide, I am
not saying that. But how many people would a marketing firm reach with
that type of image/delivery system? I have said it before and will say
it again, "Any and all stereo 3D, correctly presented, is a good
thing." There are far too few of us in the 3D world, why not hope that
the marketing that does exist might expand our ranks?
