Realist Wide Angle Adapter

While at the NSA convention I looked at a few wide angle adapters for 
Realists.  Any comments on pros and cons of the device?  Some tell me it 
provides equivalent of 24mm and other 28mm.  How about quality and effect on 
exposure.   Are they worth the high price tag?  What is the typical value of 
these?  I saw them offered anywhere between $400 and $650 a pair.  Thanks 
for any comments...
