Re: Plastic lenses (was Taylor-Merchant stereoscope lenses)

I remember reading that the lens on the Kodak disposable panoramic camera has
two elements made of different plastics; I think they said styrene and acrylic.
So it sounds like designers must have at least some degrees of freedom to
play with with plastics (though that doesn't mean that plastic achromats for
stereoscopes would be practical).
    For fans of achromat stereoscopes, though:  At Rochester I picked up a
newsletter that said that the designer of the SaturnScope (whose name escapes
me at present) will be making a limited number of stereoscopes with achromat
lenses, and is presently taking orders.  If anybody's interested, let me know,
and I'll try to find the newsletter and type in the details.
