View-Master single chip mounts

Hey John!

I had a similar idea for mounting single VM chips last year after picking up a few Story-View sets. I made a couple prototypes using sections of the metal guide inside the Personal reels and laminating it between two pieces of thin cardstock. Making the dies for mass production might be a bit costly, but the idea is very cool. Handmaking the mounts would definitely wear thin pretty quick, though. The second prototype is similar to the fold-over self adhesive realist mounts. I just marked off the space to place the chips and then taped them in place. The registration is perfect!

View-Master photographers might find themselves having to make their own mounts sometime in the future...unless TYCO has a change of heart about this area of their production.
