Alan,
I got started in 3-D photography with two real cheap ($25) fixed focus
35mm cameras. I wired the shutter release contacts together and
"Velcroed" them onto an aluminum bar. I used only print film in
these cameras and had it processed at K-Mart. The viewer I used
was a ViewMagic over/under format viewer, available from Joel
Alpers of Rocky Mountain Memories. It produced very nice stereo
pairs that I still view. So....to answer your question, you can
certainly use print film for your stereo pairs. You just need to
have an appropriate viewer.
