>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This illustrates my earlier statement that the common
idea today of 3D movies is that of anaglyphic presentation. I wasn't
watching movies in the 50's so I don't know about the earlier practices. I
do know that polarized projection hasn't been used widely for more recent
audiences due to the extra cost and hassle of setting up for polarized viewing.

It seems that both entertainment and politics counts on the fact that
audiences have a relatively short term memory.

I appreciated the information in the AMC show relating to the inventors
reaction to the use his 3D system was getting in movies. He felt strongly
that the potential was far greater than just a gimmick, yet most movies only
used the gimmick aspect. Then, some of the best 3D movies were mostly seen
in 2D so the audiences never had a chance to evaluate the real thing.

The fault for this along with other aspects of loss of showmanship was
rightly placed on the narrowmindedness of the studio heads. This lack of
vision in those whose focus is only on $$$persists in most entertainment
today. It is a sad situation that high-tech creativity is so expensive that
the truly creative rarely get a chance to get close to the newer
environments let alone be creative in them.
