FRAMESPLITTER

I was just about to continue the discussion of terminology in 3-D by
soliciting suggestions for a more precise and convenient term as a
substitute for "beamsplitter", to designate those mirror- or
prism-devices -- you know what I mean. Then Mr. Harrington comes
forth with a very good suggestion:
FRAMESPLITTER
The trouble with beamsplitter is that it doesn't really split a beam,
and the word has been preempted for a well-known optical device which
is quite different in principle. So, "framesplitter" let it be!

Great! Now we don't need to have a naming contest, and I don't
have to come up with a prize, except, of course, to offer my
congratulations to <nharrington@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>. I am very
impressed that perhaps we are making progress.

This is a great medium!
