Shutterbug article

There is an article in the September '96 issue of Shutterbug there is an
article titled, "Collectibles with Unique Features". In the article the
author features several turn-of-the-century stereo cameras including the
1906 Stereo Auto Graflex and the 1892 Ives Kromskop. I don't want to
steal the articles thunder but the discussion of these two cameras are
facinating..so here's a quick blurb on each one.
The Auto Graflex sported a stereo viewfinder! It had built in prisms and a
binocular viewfinder so that the photographer could also see in 3D and was
touted as "the ultimate composing aid for the stereo photographer".
The Ives Kromskop produced three pairs on black and white positive
transparencies. The transparencies were placed in a special viewer along
with primary color filters (R-G-B) and viola...you had color viewing....over
a hundred years ago (even without the benefit of a Themelizer on
hand...sorry George...couldn't resist). The composite views and filters
were called "Kromograms".
If you get a chance take a look....it's brief but interesting.
Regards,
Tim Smith
