Reference Sid Herbage's enquiry in PHOTO-3D digest 1483, far and away the
best thing for his house guest to do if he is at all interested in 3-D
photography would be to join The Stereoscopic Society (yes - THE
Stereoscopic Society - founded 1893) in the UK. The membership is
international, but mainly British. We have a supplies organisation to
provide mounts, viewing specs, books and other stereo essentials to members
(only). Also a members trading facility, and an annual auction at which
many cameras, viewers, etc change hands. Membership subscription is a
mere #11 a year, which includes an award-winning 36-page quarterly magazine
(with many helpful articles on techniques and news about stereo, including
coloured stereo pairs in each issue).

The only commercial source in the UK for some stereo supplies is the
WideScreen Centre in London (its proprietor, Tony Shapps, is a member of
P3D and will no doubt also be responding).

Enquiries about membership of The Stereoscopic Society should be addressed
to the Secretary, Mrs Sue Makinson, 36 Silverthorn Drive, Hemel Hempstead,
HP3 8BX, UK (telephone 01442 258805).

Don Wratten
President, The Stereoscopic Society
