Two different focal lengths will give you two differing depths of field. 
The shots (or crop) would be similar, but not quite the same.

This was a unique shot for the time. The Zoomar lens was in it's infancy 
then. This kind of stretch had never been done before. Hitchcock built 
the "bell tower" replica on a stage so that he could dolly down it's 
length while "zooming" out. The set cost $25,000, and hit the record for 
the most expensive piece of screen time.
