Help needed

I am a recent member of this forum and have been reading the posts for
about two months. Now I want to introduce myself. I am a long time stereo
photography "nut." I was in PSA for quite a few years, was in San
Francisco's Vista Camera Club until it disbanded, and have been inactive
in stereo photography ever since. Now I have discovered the 3-D forum,
and I am renewing my interest fast. I want to get started again.

I recently shot a roll of slides with my Stereo Realist, and they appear
to be perfectly exposed. I can hardly wait to look at them. I started to
cut them apart, and then I discovered, to my horror, that my beautiful,
dependable, red dot stereo viewer has "battery burn." It is filled with
blue foamy crud, due to the fact that I left two D batteries in it too
long. Last night I spent the evening scraping all the spring-loaded
contacts, trying everything. It still doesn't work.

Does anybody know of someone who can clean and resore my red dot viewer?
Should I try alcohol on q-tips? How should I clean it? I would be happy
to run it through my washer/dryer cycle if someone would tell me it would
work! I would also like to have an address to send it away to for repair
and cleaning, or face the fact that it is possibly not repairable.

I will appreciate any help I can get! Erlys in Mill Valley, CA
