APS film system

Hi All,

While visiting my local Long's store today I picked up the brochures for the
new film system being discussed here. They had two camera brands mentioned
in their literature, Kodak and Fuji. They (Longs) have made a commitment to
the new system and stock both cameras and film.

The Kodak brochures hinted at this technology helping advanced features in
the future such as adding text, electronic picture transfer, and recording
sound with the pictures. I presume the magnetic coating will be where the
sound is recorded. Their claim is to *grow with almost limitless new
technology*. As stereophotographers, we should investigate what could
benefit shooting stereo and hold them to their promise. I doubt they've
given it much thought. Chances are pretty good that if 3D takes off in
popularity again, it will catch most camera mfg. by surprise.

For those who prefer slides, it seems some processors will provide prints
and/or slides no matter which type of film you used. Seattle Film Works is
one such company. I am going to ask them if that will be true for the APS
films too.
