Flashing would be helpful if a lab offers it. Back in "the old days" 16mm movie
producers usually used a stock called Ektachrome Commercial, which had a low
contrast which was designed to anticipate the rise in contrast when it was
printed. Whenever shooting with the Commercial stock was impractical, however,
we would shoot with normal stock and have the lab flash it (i.e. expose it to a
low-level light at one point during processing) and the result was almost as
good as shooting EC to begin with.
