A filtered anaglyph photo will sometimes work a little in the mid-tone range,
but I've never seen one that worked WELL (and there are a couple of guys in the
SCSC Movie Division who keep trying, and keep showing us the results). As for
Q-DOS, from all I have been able to gather, it basically adds color fringing to
the out-of-focus backgrounds, where there is little detail to begin with. I
didn't say (or at least mean to imply) that color-filter anaglyphs were
*impossible,* only that they were *extremely unsatisfactory,* even in comparison
to a properly-made color anaglyph, which I think are pretty poor themselves.
