Inverse Vignetting

I know what will cause exactly the opposite of what you describe.  If you remove the 
rear lens element in a Realist, and accidently replace it reversed, you will get an 
image that is clear in the very center, fuzzy elsewhere.  The image, if I remember 
correctly, will also be slightly enlarged.

Just curious if you have done any cleaning/disassebly reassembly of the lenses?  Doesn't 
sound like it since it only shows up in three shots.
