That piece of cr**
>A piece of cr** if unexplained, but fantastic and really
>neat/interesting if explained -- even though it's the *same* slide?
Some pictures do not speak for themselves and it is the supporting
documentation that makes them interesting and better appreciated.
With the exception of rare cases where the images are "art speaking
for itself" narration is important in slide projections and comments
are important in postal circuit entries (if you remember, one of
my main objections in the way Expo1 was conducted was the lack of
comments and feedback.)
I also like my VM packets to come with the booklet. Reading the
booklet helps me better appreciate the images that I am seeing.
In your example I might still think that this is a boring picture
showing an object of great scientific importance.
I liked Jamie's VM reel because he was able to present objects of little
interest to me (unquestionably due to my lack of knowledge of the
subject) in an excellent photographic way. This presentation actually
made me curious to learn more about the objects pictured.
