  Because of the orange base the best you can do is light
orange (in the black areas of the original scene). Bright
white areas of the original scene come out black since
it is a negative.

  Suppose I took a full frame photo of a 18% grey card.
On the negative it would be grey with an orange tint due
to the base. If I took another photo, with an orange
filter in front of the lens, the negative should come out
less (or not at all?) orange.

Am I making any sense or just plain wrong?
